This has been posted on tumblr a few times already, but the artist has finished the set and I thought I’d post the complete gallery, because I am so in love with this concept and get so excited when people combine history with art. (I’ve inserted the locations and dates Shoomlah narrowed for each princess just for funsies.)

Historically Accurate Disney Princesses! by Shoomlah

and because I didn’t have room to include her, here’s Cinderella.

Pretty sure I’ve reblogged this before, but have it again.

Still love these, and still think it would be a fun cosplay group to do with my friends.

Disney’s Mulan Deleted Scene: Reflection

In my opinion, deleting this scene from “Reflection” was a terrible mistake.  The song is beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but this added part takes a somewhat disparing song and makes being different empowering and strong.

WHY WASN’T THIS HERE

wow. just wow

I don’t understand. It’s beautiful. Wow disney.

Yeah, Lea Salonga was heartbroken that they cut the song. I can understand why. This part is inspirational.

wtf disney :c

Holy hell the chills… <3 ;n; I cant even believe they cut this this was amazing

WHY DID THEY DELETE THIS…..

GOD I’M SO MAD

Okay

I watched this twice

and the second time

I fucking cried

why did they cut this I’m so angry now

And man those are some wickedly amazing storyboards, it would’ve looked spectacular fully realized.

Man, let me tell you, the decision to cut parts from a scene like this must have been so extremely hard for them to do. Don’t blame them too badly, kay. Someone probably felt like trash after it was redone, way worse than what we feel.

WATCH THIS NOW! EPIC! JUST EPIC!

getting goosebumps!! <3

Awwwwwww……

-gross sobbing-

brb crying for real now. god damn.

holy fucking shit

that was intense

MORE NOTES!

my gosh <3

as;dlkfj STUNNING!! I also love how if you hear Rapunzel speaking without the video there, it just sounds like Mandy Moore. It took me a while to realize (i.e., I had to be told) that it was her in the film before.

I need to see The Great Mouse Detective again, I used to love it to bits!! D: But sad story: my mom lent a bunch of our Disney films to a friend and insists she never did and that they’re in the same drawer every time, and then I show her that they’re not, and…ugh.

Running at 15% :\

Not going to lie, I got choked up and kinda teary-eyed at so many points in this. Goosebumps everywhere.

MY CHILDHOOOOOOOOOOD!!! <33

Captain’s Log: My childhood just flashed before my eyes, and it was one of the most beautiful sites I’ve seen.

  • reddish beak-like, sharkfin noses

  • thin, long, pointy mandibles
  • dot-within-round-shape eyes
  • flat coloring, or cell shading
  • similar, neutral-tone palette

Its an artistic hivemind affecting a huge percentage of females 17~25 from dA’s webcomics crowd, called ‘psuedo-Disney’; originating from the profoundly popular deviantArtist, Phobs. Its become such a trend, that the imitators can be completely unaware of who it originated from.

The ‘mature anime’ style seems to be the inverse.

Art snobs and realistic artists aren’t only envious of the widespread attention associated with the style, but of the confidence and satisfaction that Phobsesque artists have, too.

The question isn’t whether or not you’ve been effected by either trend, or even a hodgepodge of the two, but whether you’re happy with your art, and if you overall enjoy practicing in your personal style, while also partaking in realism studies.
